Linbrook apprentice recognised for excellence
Linbrook apprentice Erkan Hassan received an award for Vocational Excellence in wood working trades at the end of the last term. This CITB sponsored award is given to the student considered to have performed outstandingly over the last academic year and was presented to Erkan during a special ceremony at the College of North West London. during their Faculty of Technology Industry Day. John Pittarides special projects director overseeing the Linbrooks apprentice scheme congratulated Erkan saying “Erkan is an enthusiastic and committed apprentice and well deserves this award. He is just the kind of person the apprentice scheme was set up to benefit and we look forward to him becoming fully qualified member of the Linbrook operational team.” Erkan who lives in Edmonton has been a modern apprentice in Linbrook’s scheme for 2 years and as part of this he is studying for his NVQ level 2 in carpentry one day a week at the college. “I am proud to receive this award and thank Linbrook for giving me this opportunity and supporting me in my further education” said Erkan. As part of its commitment to training and developing its people Linbrook award 4 to 6 modern apprenticeships each year. Apprentices range from the ages of 17 to 24 and are all undertaking either two or three year courses, NVQ level 2 or 3, on a day release basis in electrical, plumbing, joinery or carpentry. “It is good to see local firms like Linbrook offering young people the opportunity to gain the practical experience they need alongside our vocational courses to be successful,” Said Pat Leavey, head of the Technology Faculty. |
